NIGHTMARE ALLEY
Это фильм о том, как может разлагаться личность в погоне за славой и деньгами. Главный герой хочет забыть прошлое и прибивается к бродячему балагану, где перенимает важные навыки знаменитых артистов и учится одурачивать публику. В этом он заходит очень далеко, проворачивает крупные аферы, становится очень знаменитым и в итоге совершает ряд неисправимых и ужасных поступков, из-за которых впоследствии и становится тем самым «человеком-зверем», к которому питал отвращение и жалость в начале фильма.
This is a film about how a personality can decompose in the pursuit of fame and money. The main character wants to forget the past and gets nailed to a traveling booth, where he adopts important skills of famous artists and learns to fool the audience. In this, he goes very far, pulls off major scams, becomes very famous and eventually commits a number of incorrigible and terrible deeds, because of which he subsequently becomes the very "man-beast" to whom he was disgusted and pitied at the beginning of the film.

Главный герой фильма постоянно записывает и зарисовывает все в свой дневник/скетчбук. Он даже произносит такую интересную фразу — «все что на уме, то в блокноте». Именно поэтому, его и решается бросить жена, когда видит в том самом блокноте портреты другой женщины. Таким образом, в блокноте главный герой будто бы рисует себя, свою жизнь. В титрах используется такой же прием и «рисуется» историю жизни главного героя, все то, что было у него в голове.
The main character of the film constantly writes and sketches everything in his diary/sketchbook. He even says such an interesting phrase — "everything that's on my mind is in a notebook." That is why his wife decided to leave him when she saw portraits of another woman in this notebook. Thus, in the notebook, the main character seems to be drawing himself, his life. The credits use the same technique and "draw" the life story of the main character, everything that was in his head.

Во-первых, кольцевая композиция. В работе используется похожий прием — в начале и в конце появляются виды бродячего балагана, цирка. Во-вторых, в титрах делаются акценты на двойниках главного героя — на эмбрионе и человеке-звере. В начале видео главный герой будто бы заглядывает к себе в душу, светит фонариком и находит там своих двойников. Намеки на это есть и в остальных сценах. В-третьих, на протяжении всего фильма герой обманывает, и сам фильм будто бы пытается обмануть. Этот прием так же используется и в титрах, они «обманывают» зрителей с помощью переходов и связующих сцен.
